The Safety Committee Members Training Course (SCMTC) is designed for individuals currently serving on, or preparing to serve on, Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Committees. Through comprehensive coverage of relevant legislation, hazard identification, workplace inspections, accident investigation, and preventive systems, this course equips participants with the knowledge and skills to contribute effectively to workplace safety.

Delivered over two full days, participants will gain both theoretical foundations and practical competencies in:

  • Identifying workplace hazards
  • Evaluating and managing risks
  • Promoting a strong health and safety culture
  • Applying structured methodologies for inspections and accident analysis

  • Understand and apply the Workplace Safety and Health Act, related regulations, and Codes of Practice to ensure compliance and avoid penalties.

Participants will engage in experiential learning through a combination of lectures, interactive activities, group discussions, role plays, case studies, workplace inspection simulations, and group presentations. Practical exercises such as hazard identification, incident investigation, and safety inspection walkthroughs will reinforce key concepts and ensure that participants are able to apply their learning effectively in real workplace settings.

  • Possess basic literacy and numeracy skills to understand safety legislation, complete reports, and follow safety procedures

  • Be physically capable of participating in workplace inspections, including site walkthroughs and observation activities
