This course is designed to equip leaders and managers within the organisation with the skill-sets to plan and measure performance. The course will guide participants on the implementation of plans and how to manage performance. It will also provide the relevant knowledge on review and rewards for performance.

Participants who fulfil all requirements will receive a Statement of Attainment (SOA) issued by the SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG).

The course focuses on three core competencies of leadership:

  • Set goals and develop team plans
  • Implement plans and manage performance
  • Review and reward performance

Set goals and develop team plans

  • The hierarchy of plans
  • Setting S.M.A.R.T goals
  • Management by objectives (MBO)
  • Management by wandering around (MBWA)
  • Developing team plans
  • RASCI
  • Identifying, requesting and allocating resources required to implement the team plans

Implement plans and manage performance

  • Performance management theories
    – Expectancy Theory
    – McGregor Theory X and Theory Y
    – Frederick Herzberg’s Hygiene and Motivational Factors Theory
  • Creating a high-performance team
    – Selecting the right team mix
    – Leadership and focus
    – Moving the team towards high performance
    – Monitoring team performance
    – Managing emotional states
    – Methods to improve team performance
  • Managing risks
    – Manager’s role in managing risks
    – Sources of risks
    – Assessing risk using the following matrices
    – Impact on employees and organisation

Review and reward performance

  • Review and reward performance
    – Halo effects and pitchfork effects
  • Relevant professional or industry codes of practice and standards (KA3)
    – Minimum pay and salary increase
    – National wage council (for wage increments)
    – TAFEP
    – Singapore code of corporate governance (remuneration practices for Singapore listed companies)
    – Code of governance for charities and institutes of a public character (2017) for charities and IPCs
  • Review team performance
    – Criteria of successful team
    – Data sources to review performance
    – Providing feedback
  • Supporting team leaders
  • Reward team performance
  • Market trends and developments in relation to remuneration and performance management
  • Avenues for self-improvement in performance management processes

Participants will undergo experiential learning through presentation and various learning activities to achieve optimal learning results.

This course is designed for department manager, manager, and high potential executive who has potential to play the role of a change agent or to lead change within the organisation.
