Session 1:
Change and Negative Reactions to Change

  • Learn about the concept of change, and the reasoning around why a large majority of us at first react negatively.
  • Learn about fear, why it is a major inhibitor for change and the following three tools manage it: 1) Limiting beliefs, 2) Rationalisation, and 3) Worry and Awareness Management.
  • Discover and apply a step strategy to help change and manage anxiety: 1) Selling the future and value of change; 2) Re-alignment of recognition systems to embrace change; and 3) Communicating benefits of change.

Session 2:
Models For Change Management

  • Learn about the Kübler-Ross model and be able to identify the various mental and emotional stages humans pass through when exposed to dramatic changes; learn and practice how to overcome these adverse reactions and embrace change quickly.
  • Understand the Bridges Transition Model, and apply the model to create buy-in from employees on the issue of change; focuses on the “internal” challenges of dealing with change.
  • Positively anticipate change, and understand how to use the Transtheoretical Model to accept and work through change.

Session 3:
Managing Change Positively and Adaptability Skillsets

  • Understand and apply the “5 Why” Technique to identify the root causes of change.
  • Apply journaling as a process to strategise and navigate through change.
  • Learn and apply 3 core adaptability skillsets that all adaptability individuals exercise: 1) Unlearning: The ability to learn, unlearn, and relearn; 2) Exploration/Experimentation: The ability to explore and experiment to find newness in the world around us and predict change; and 3) What If: Always looking at understanding new possibilities to envision opportunities and threats.

Session 4:
Mindset and Resilience and Capstone Project Presentations

  • Learn about Mindset and how to develop a growth mindset to learn, grow develop and become more Resilient.
  • Understand and learn to develop Resilience through: 1) Inspiration: Understand the power of pursuing interest. Learn how one can use a template technique to focus on experimenting and testing your interests. 2) Deliberate Practice: Learning how one can create a Deliberate Practice Action Plan. 3) Purpose: Examining the value of Purpose at work. Using process to magnify job purpose.

Prior to his current role, Derek was the Head of Retail Operations across Asia and the Head of Innovation at LendLease.
