To determine whether staff members are performing well and making progress at work, the process has to begin with setting goals. Organisations can manage their staff effectively by having a structured performance management process, which involves goal-setting, feedback and appraisals. Staff must be committed to set meaningful goals, which can serve as a reference point to measure progress. Feedback and constructive dialogue with supervisors provide opportunities to evaluate strengths and weaknesses, identify performance gaps and assess opportunities for career development.
